Unavailability of Generic Prescription Drugs
I have chronic pain due to a degenerative disc disease and am on an opiate pain reduction program set up by my Pain Physician. I live in Florida and the companies that supply the generic MSContin(extended release morphine sulphate) have recalled their pills. I think the company is Essex. They had a batch of 30mg pills that were actually 60mg and all the pills were recalled. The company that makes the generic roxycodone has been sold and from what my pharmacist told me, they are holding back all orders with no definate release date. I usually get my scripts filled at CVS and they were all out, same was true with Walgreens. I am talking about the 30mg oxycodone. Pharmacists from both CVS and walgreens suggested I get my script changed from 120 30mg to 240 15 mg for the present as I am going to have trouble getting my scripts filled anywhere. I finally found one Walmart that could fill both the MSContin and the 30mg oxy but the pharmacist suggested I call around before my next office visit to find what strengths are available in Tampa. This is one crazy situation here. Hope some of you out there can comment on this situation or know what the heck is going on with the pharmacy manufacturers. I hope that some of you out there know or have information about this situation. It's not only pain medications but many others. Thanks and have a great day.
